One Year Program: Introduction to Psychoanalytic Theory

 

 

This track does not lead to certification. However, it is formulated to convert to a two year or three year program. This program is offered bi-yearly on even years, i.e. 2014, 2016, etc. Note: if a candidate does plan to convert to a two or three year program, the candidate needs to begin their analysis at the corresponding rate of two sessions per week for the two year program or three sessions per week for the three year program.  CANDIDATES WHO ANTICIPATE COMPLETION OF THE THREE-YEAR CERTIFICATE TRACK MUST HAVE THEIR ANALYSIS WITH A CERTIFIED PSYCHOANALYST.

 

CURRICULUM:

July Summer Intensive (Fogelsville, PA: July 14-24, 2016) - Psychoanalysis: Theoretical Perspectives

Module One (Fogelsville, PA: July 14-24, 2016 in-residence at end of summer intensive): Freudian

Weekly reading groups (5) continue focus of Module One (2 hours once weekly. Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time).

 

Module Two (Fall 2016) – Self Psychology

Weekly reading groups (5) continue focus of Module Two

 

Module Three (Winter 2017) – Object Relations

Weekly reading groups (5) continue focus of Module Three

 

Module Four (CAPS Convention, Spring 2017) – Relational Psychoanalysis

Weekly reading groups (5) continue focus of Module Four

 

 

PERSONAL PSYCHOTHERAPY:

One-year candidates are to complete a once weekly psychotherapy (minimum 50 hours) with a certified psychoanalyst or a psychoanalytically oriented therapist. (to be approved by the BIPACT director.  BIPACT faculty and instructors are pre-approved.)

 

 

CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is not a clinical track, therefore there are no clinical requirements.
